Michael Owen believes Liverpool will record a comfortable win when the Reds play Newcastle at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

The Magpies have picked up form in recent weeks, as they have moved clear of the relegation places, but Owen expects Jurgen Klopp’s side will have too much for them this weekend:

“Newcastle have done well to get themselves in a good position at the bottom end of the table, losing only once in their last seven matches. That’s good form in anyone’s book although I do feel, at Anfield, the Geordies may come up just short against Liverpool side that are chasing a top-four finish.”

Owen has gone with a 2-0 victory for Liverpool, which is not a surprising prediction, considering Newcastle have lost nine of their 15 matches away from home this season.

However, the Reds’ form at Anfield has, up until very recently, been poor as well, and this could well be another tight affair, with Klopp’s men having struggled to finish off their chances in recent games.

Fans will be hoping that the home side can get an early goal to take the pressure off them before easing to a relatively straightforward win. Considering Liverpool’s unpredictable season, though, it is far from guaranteed to be just as easy as it looks on paper.
