Liverpool are almost certain to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham either in January or at the end of the season, according to Craig Hignett.
The former Middlesbrough player claims he is been told by a reliable source that the Reds are the clear favourites to secure the teenager’s signature:
“I think I’ve heard it on good authority and I can’t say where I’ve heard it from, but apparently he has been saying that he is Liverpool bound. Whether that is January or whether that is the end of the season isn’t sure yet, but I think, I have it on good authority that it is almost a cert.”
Reliable journalists have already confirmed that Bellingham is on the Merseyside club’s radar but the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also thought to be keen on the 18-year-old.
With some reports suggesting that Dortmund would demand in excess of £100m for the England international, it would be a big surprise if Liverpool have actually managed to agree a deal to sign the player.
We shall see if Hignett’s sources prove to be correct. It would undoubtedly be a massive coup if the Reds were to win the race for Bellingham but it is probably wise to treat this information with a large pinch of salt.
