Liverpool forward Mo Salah was left off the six-man shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year. The Egyptian international missed out with Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden, as well as Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes all nominated for the award

Considering the 28-year-old scored 22 goals and provided five assists in 37 league appearances for the Reds, his omission is a major surprise, and it hasn’t gone down well with supporters on Twitter, who were particularly annoyed that Foden was named ahead of Salah:

It must be pointed out that the PFA awards are voted on by the players themselves, which makes it all the more surprising that Salah was left off the six-man shortlist.

The Egyptian could well be the victim of his own success, having narrowly missed out on the Golden Boot this year after winning it twice before in the past.
