Rio Ferdinand says he can’t rule out Liverpool winning the quadruple this season.
The BT Sport pundit was reluctant to admit that it was possible, considering he is a former Manchester United player, but he feels that the Reds do possess the squad to make it happen:
“I do not want to imagine it… Listen, they have the quality. No doubt. This squad is full of winners, full of people with big passion and desire to go and win things. The mentality, the mindset is there, they’ve got a great manager pushing them. It’s not beyond them, we’ll have to wait and see.”
To be honest, Jurgen Klopp’s side won’t be adding to their trophy haul this season if they don’t improve on the performances they showed against West Ham and Inter Milan.
They scaped a win against the Hammers at the weekend, even though their opponents had two or three gilt-edged opportunities in the narrow 1-0.
Things didn’t get any better last night. Despite going 1-0 down versus Inter, they were let off the hook by Alexis Sanchez’s red card, allowing them to limp through to the Champions League quarter-finals after a rather flat performance.
Of course, Liverpool’s form could turn around very quickly but they won’t be able to rely on luck if they are to secure three more trophies in the coming months.
