Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes Liverpool’s title challenge could hinge on Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara.
The former France international was actually speaking before the Reds thrashed Everton 4-1 last night when he claimed that the midfield trio could make Jurgen Klopp’s side unstoppable if they continue playing together:
“The scary thing about that Liverpool side is that Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson have played just three times together. If they start to really click and understand each other I don’t know how you’re going to stop them.”
All three players bring something different to the table. Thiago’s passing range is second to none, Henderson covers a lot of ground and links well with Salah and Trent on the right flank while Fabinho marshalls the centre of the pitch and protects the back four.
The fact that they have played so rarely together since Thiago’s arrival 15 months ago, though, is very much down to injuries and it remains to be seen how the trio will fare fitness-wise over the course of this season.
If they do manage to stay available, Henry suggests that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City will find it difficult to stay with the Reds in the race for the title.
