Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has not taken too kindly to Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount’s comments about wanting to get “payback” against the Reds for the Carabao Cup final.
The two sides will face other once again in the FA Cup final next month, leading Mount to say he was keenly anticipating a rematch:
“It’s definitely time for us to win a final at Wembley. For myself it’s been five finals at Wembley, five finals I’ve lost. Now we have to put the pressure on ourselves to step up. It’s going to be a tough game. We remember fondly the last cup final we played at Wembley, now it’s time to get our payback.”
Enrique reacted to those remarks on Twitter today, stating that Mount should try and do more of his talking on the pitch:
This guy talks a lot.he did it to Toni Kross as well. Let’s see what happens in the https://t.co/HF8fW0rOPE the moment you already lost one against us this season ñ. Come on reds!!! 💪♥️🔴 pic.twitter.com/geerbx2Voo

To be fair to Mount, there isn’t exactly anything that controversial in what he is saying. He’s lost five matches in a row at Wembley so he is keen to put that right.
However, as Enrique points out, those sorts of comments don’t always go down well with the opposition and you can bet that Liverpool’s players will be made aware of what Mount has said. It will be an interesting subplot heading into the final on May 14th.
