Liverpool are “definitely interested” in signing Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, according to Sport1‘s chief reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The German journalist claims that while Bayern are keen to extend the Frenchman’s contract, which currently has two years left to run, the Reds are aware that the forward could force through a move to England:
Update #Coman: Yes, #LFC is definitely interested in signing him and they are in contact with his management. But right now, it’s not a hot topic. #FCBayern still want him to extend, especially Nagelsmann. But Kingsley‘s father forces his departure to ???????. @SPORT1

At 25 years of age, Coman would certainly fit the age profile sporting director Michael Edwards usually goes after, and his contract situation means he could soon be available for a relatively low amount. Fans on Twitter are rather excited by the prospect of the France international moving to Anfield:
what a signing this would be

Usually, rumours such as this start circulating when a player is trying to put pressure on their club to offer them an improved contract but Plettenberg’s comment that Coman’s father is trying to engineer a switch to the Premier League does suggest there is substance to this story.
Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with the Frenchman in recent months so Liverpool are probably not the only team involved in the race to sign the winger.
