Premier League clubs are lining up to sign Red Bull Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi if a switch to Borussia Dortmund falls through, according to Sky Germany’s Max Behrenbeck.

The Bundesliga side remain firm favourites to snap up the German international, but his €40m (£33.5m) asking price is proving to be a major stumbling block. Behrenbeck says teams in England are waiting in the wings:

“There are some, especially from the Premier League, who would take him immediately for 40 million euros. That’s not a lot of money for a player like that.”

Sky Germany claim Liverpool are one of those clubs, while reports in England have also mentioned the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City in recent months.

Adeyemi has been in good form this season, having racked up 19 goals in 34 appearances, and his availability for such a low price makes him an attractive signing, as Behrenbeck points out. The German journalist says he is still “assuming” that Dortmund will get the deal over the line but it appears the Reds are ready to pounce if an agreement cannot be reached.
