Manchester City are considering a move for Ajax fullback Nicolas Tagliafico if they can sell Oleksandr Zinchenko before deadline day, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s James Ducker.
The usually reliable reporter claims that the Citizens are keen on strengthening their options at left-back but any deal is dependent on outgoings:
Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico is one of the left backs interesting #mcfc but any move to strengthen in that position before window closes on Monday is likely to hinge on being able to offload Zinchenko https://t.co/wpvQyAPiI2

After Benjamin Mendy’s poor performance against Leicester City at the weekend, there is widespread enthusiasm among supporters on Twitter in regards to signing Tagliafico:

Anyone who is an actual LB would be welcome.
No disrespect to Mendy or Zinchenko who has been trying to play there even tho he’s a CM.— C H A D ♠️ (@SmithLikolo) September 29, 2020
Alex Telles a better option in my opinion, but if we can’t get Telles definitely get Tagliafico. Telles is better offensively, which is what we need, also cheaper and younger, so don’t understand why we don’t pursue Telles.

City are not believed to be the only team interested in Tagliafico with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid having been linked with the player in recent months.
However, despite the Argentinian international reportedly being available for just €25m (£23m) this summer, no club has decided to make a move for the defender yet. With Zinchenko’s departure not thought to be imminent, it looks as though a deal for Tagliafico could go down to the wire.
