Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has warned the club’s rivals that the Citizens are very much in the fight to win the Premier League this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side are currently in ninth place, eight points behind league leaders Liverpool after 12 games, but Aguero says it is so tight at the top of the table that a few good results could see them shoot up the table:
“We always believe that we can challenge for the title. In the Premier League, you win two games and then you’re near the top. We need to be calm, play the same way, because City always fights for the titles. Always.”
One of the major issues for City has been their inability to score. They have hit the back of the net just 18 times this season but, with Aguero returning to fitness, it is hoped that the club’s record goalscorer can rectify that problem.
However, the Argentinian international has also made some concerning comments about his knee injury. The 32-year-old underwent surgery in the summer but it appears he is still struggling with an issue, which could limit his game time. Hopefully, he returns to full fitness as soon as possible.
