Former Fiorentina and Rangers defender Lorenzo Amoruso believes that Manchester City and Tottenham would be the two main contenders if Dusan Vlahovic is sold during the January transfer window.
Reports suggest that Arsenal and Juventus are also very keen on the Serbian international, but Amoruso says that if a deal were to go ahead next month, Vlahovic may only have a couple of options:
“City and Tottenham are the only two who can take him now, but he doesn’t want to leave in January. If this continues, the auction will go off anyway in the summer as the English teams have no problem offering insane figures.”
Whether City are actually lining up a bid for Vlahovic in January, we shall have to wait and see. The Italian media have been pushing the story hard but English sources have been less certain about the Premier League champions’ interest in the 21-year-old.
As Amoruso points out, the player seems to prefer moving in the summer, rather than midway through the season. However, with the striker having only eighteen months remaining on his current deal, Fiorentina seem to be determined to cash in now, with it being claimed that the Serie A side are demanding €80m (£68m).
