Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers claims that only Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are “happy” about how the Premier League season has unfolded so far.

While delivering an assessment of his own team’s disappointing form, he also claimed that neither Liverpool nor Chelsea would be pleased by how far they have fallen behind City at the top of the table:

“I think every team other than Man City won’t be happy. That’s the reality of it,” admitted Rodgers when asked about his side’s status. If you ask every manager are you happy, I think Man City would probably say, Pep would probably say, ‘yeah I’m quite happy’. Jurgen won’t because he’ll want to be top. Thomas won’t because he’ll want to be top. We are sort of round mid-table; we want to be there. And the teams at the bottom certainly don’t want to be there.”

It’s certainly a fair summary from Rodgers. City supporters would definitely have taken the position they are in now if they were asked before the start of the campaign.

There is, of course, a long way to go still, as Guardiola has continued to hammer home during press conferences in recent weeks. While every result won’t go the Citizens’ way between now and May, they have shown in past seasons that they are strong frontrunners and possess the mentality required to press home the advantage they currently hold over their rivals.
