Manchester City could sign Harry Kane from Tottenham by using players in their bid for the England captain, according to Tony Cascarino.
The Spurs forward has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, but the player’s £150m to £175m price tag could well put off potential bidders. Cascarino does, though, think City have a card up their sleeves by being able to offer high-quality players in exchange for the striker:
“If they can get a deal done, it will be [Harry] Kane. That’s the one I would be looking at. I think [Erling] Haaland is a bit trickier because of the agent, the dynamics and the involvement of Dortmund. I think there is a time, sometimes, when players have to go and that is Kane’s time now.”
“You could argue Daniel Levy will want this and want that. I think players are needed at Tottenham and I think a player plus cash deal could be easily made available because, like we saw yesterday, there are a lot of fantastic players that aren’t playing in Manchester City’s first-team. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a player plus cash package.”
It is an interesting take by Cascarino. City are unlikely to break the bank for Kane, even though they are looking for a replacement for Sergio Aguero, and this could be a solution worth considering.
There are a number of players who could be offered in the first-team squad, including the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko or even Nathan Ake, with the Dutchman said to be weighing up a potential departure from the Etihad after just one season.
City should try exploring every avenue for Kane. The forward has scored 31 goals in all competitions and would undoubtedly improve the squad.
