It was believed that the signing of Ferran Torres from Valencia would have ruled the Citizens out of the running for the France Under 21 international, but manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the player and is still keen on his side making a move for the Ligue One star.
Lyon are said to be open to selling Aouar at the right price, with president Jean-Michel Aulas having slapped a €60m (£54m) valuation on the player. That may, though, have to be lowered considering the current financial climate.
If that were to happen, it is believed Arsenal could also enter the running for the Frenchman, although the Gunners do have a very limited transfer budget.
What is certain, though, is that Aouar’s future won’t be resolved before Lyon’s participation in the Champions League ends. They go into tonight’s second leg of their last 16 tie against Juventus with a 1-0 aggregate lead.
