Manchester City remain interested in signing RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Christopher Nkunku, according to reports in German media.
Reports in France back in October had suggested that the Citizens, Chelsea and Real Madrid had held talks with super-agent Pini Zahavi about potentially signing the 24-year-old.
Nkunku spoke out at the time to address the rumours, stating he was “comfortable” at Leipzig, but speculation about his departure has continued, mostly because of his excellent form.
The Frenchman has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 30 appearances this campaign, and those performances are unlikely to have gone unnoticed by City’s recruitment team.
With Arsenal and Liverpool having also been mentioned as potential suitors for Nkunku, the midfielder is expected to be in high demand. Leipzig have tried to quash talk about a potential exit, with the Bundesliga club’s managing director Oliver Mintzlaff adamant that he will still be playing for them next season, but a lot can happen between now and the summer.
