Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could be available for the Manchester derby after manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Argentinian international is expected to take part in full training.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League group game versus Marseille tomorrow night, Guardiola said the 32-year-old is now suffering no discomfort from a knee issue which had prevented him from featuring in recent games:

“Tomorrow we make a training session, see how his reaction is in his body. What is important is in the last two, three days he was part of the group and his reaction and the niggles he had in the past disappeared. He’ll be back when he’s able to train regularly, and get minutes.”

“The quality is there. We know him quite well, he’s working incredibly hard to come back. He needs a bit more time for his injury but we are patient. We would love to have him back but if his knee responds well he will be back.”

It’s unlikely that Aguero will start at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, considering he has not played a minute of first-team football since coming on as a substitute against Olympiakos last month, but it will be a big boost to have him on the bench for such an important game.

Even without their all-time leading scorer, the Citizens have begun to score more goals recently, racking up five against Burnley and another two versus Fulham on Saturday. They will be hoping for a confidence-boosting win versus Marseille before their clash against United this weekend.
