Danny Ings has rejected a lucrative new four-year contract with Southampton, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.

The former Liverpool striker is keen on moving to a bigger club and, with his current deal expiring next year, the Saints will have to decide whether they want to sell the 28-year-old before he leaves for nothing:

Ornstein says Manchester City are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Ings’ situation, along with Manchester United and Tottenham, but there are no indications that the Citizens are actively looking to make a move for the forward.

It is thought that Ings is quite a way down the list of options that manager Pep Guardiola is considering as a potential replacement for Sergio Aguero. Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland are said to be the three main targets, but there has also been some talk about a move for Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann in recent days.
