Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has been told that he can leave the Etihad this summer, according to reports in the English media.

The Dutchman was signed from Bournemouth for £41m in 2020 but he hasn’t managed to establish himself as a regular starter under manager Pep Guardiola.

Although Ake put in some impressive performances during his second season with the Citizens, it is believed that the Premier League champions won’t stand in his way if he wants to move teams so he can get more game time.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported last month that City have been scouting Villarreal’s Pau Torres, along with Chelsea and Manchester United, so it seems as if Guardiola’s side are putting contingency plans in place if Ake does leave.

In terms of where the Netherlands international could move to. West Ham have been regularly mentioned as potential suitors over the past few months so a switch to the London Stadium is a possibility.
