Manchester City will have to stump up a “significant payment” to Erling Haaland’s representatives if they want to snap up the Norwegian next summer, according to ESPN.

The website claims that in addition to the agent fees, Haaland would expect a £30m a year salary to agree a move to the Etihad Stadium.

With a €75m (£63m) release clause also having to be paid, the cost of securing Haaland’s services is likely to be put off a lot of potential suitors.

ESPN reports that the Citizens are leading the race for the 21-year-old’s signature, along with Manchester United and Chelsea, but the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are now said to have fallen behind their rivals.

The eye-watering sums mean City will have to make a serious financial commitment if they want to go after Haaland and it remains to be seen whether they will go ahead with the deal.
