Manchester City are heavy favourites to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Writing in his column for website Benchwarmers, the Italian journalist claims that the Citizens are keen to open negotiations with Spurs for the England captain:

“Manchester City are by far the club most interested in Kane and want to open talks as soon as possible if Daniel Levy changes positions [on negotiating the player’s sale].”

Kane could cost at least £120m, with some reports suggesting that Tottenham may ask for a figure closer to £150m, as they try to keep hold of the club’s talisman.

However, the 27-year-old appears to be determined to leave the London club and it is believed that his preferred destination would be the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea are also keen but Spurs are very reluctant to do business with such a fierce rival so City’s only real competition is likely to be Manchester United.

Finances could yet be a problem as manager Pep Guardiola has previously said they are unlikely to pay over £100m on one player but Kane could be the exception, especially as the club are seeking a replacement for Sergio Aguero.
