BBC pundit Garth Crooks has named Manchester City trio Joao Cancelo, Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez in his “Team Of The Week.”
All three players made key contributions in the 4-1 win over rivals Manchester United at the Etihad last night, with Crooks particularly effusive in his praise of De Bruyne, who he says could prove vital in securing a second consecutive title:
“De Bruyne is back to his best and with him, in this mood, I wouldn’t bet against City winning the title if he can remain fit.”
In terms of the rest of the team, Crooks selected three Chelsea players in Thiago Silva, Reece James and Kai Havertz after their 4-0 victory against Burnley on Saturday.
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka also made the eleven after scoring a goal and providing an assist as the Gunners secured a vital win over Watford at Vicarage Road yesterday afternoon.
Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Newcastle’s Fabian Schar, Aston Villa playmaker Philippe Coutinho and Brentford’s Ivan Toney were also handed places in Crooks’ team, following excellent performances for their respected clubs this weekend.
