Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is still expecting Liverpool to challenge Manchester City for the title, although he does think the Citizens are the favourites.
Pep Guardiola’s side are currently seven points ahead of the Reds after yesterday’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United. Manchester United and Leicester are also between the two teams in the Premier League table but Redknapp thinks it will be a two-horse race once again this campaign:
“Like most people, I can’t see beyond Manchester City or Liverpool when it comes to the likely champions. And although Liverpool bounced right back to form at Spurs on Thursday, you have to say City are the ones playing the most impressive football.”
City have an away match versus Burnley before travelling to Anfield for a huge game against Liverpool next Sunday. If they win that match, it may prove decisive in ensuring they finish above last season’s champions.
Of course, it must be pointed out that there are other teams involved but, considering the major threat that the Reds have posed in recent years, knocking them out of the title race this early would be a massive shot in the arm going into the closing months of the season.
