Manchester City and Chelsea have “doubts” over plans for the European Super League, and are the likeliest to pull out of the competition, according to the Guardian.

With the Citizens, in particular, not needing any cash from the tournament, they were likely the most hesitant about signing up, and some supporters on Twitter are hoping they will back down:

The Guardian goes on to claim that fewer than half of the 12 clubs signed up for the Super League are “fanatics” and will resist any attempt to scupper the plans.

However, the same report says they have been informed by other sources that there are no guarantees that any team will back away from the proposals.

With Real Madrid president Florentino Perez having confirmed that the clubs have all signed legally binding contracts, it appears any hope of a climb down from City or any other team is optimistic at this stage.
