Manchester City are “in the running” to sign RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku, according to Footmercato.com.
The Premier League champions were first linked with the France international back in October, although things had gone pretty quiet since then.
However, it seems the Citizens do retain an interest in Nkunku, along with the likes of rival Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
It is not a surprise to see so many teams keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old, as he has scored 27 goals and contributed 17 assists in 40 appearances for Leipzig this campaign.
For that reason, Nkunku won’t be sold on the cheap this summer, with Foot Mercato claiming a fee in the region of €70m (£58.3m) will be needed to secure his signature.
Whether City actually need a player like the Frenchman, though, it is debatable. Manager Pep Guardiola already has plenty of options available to him who can play in similar positions.
