Manchester City need to raise more funds in order to sign both Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish this summer, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

The Sunday Times reporter claims that while the Citizens have already made one offer for Kane, which was rejected, they know they need more cash, which could be generated through sales.

However, teams such as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, who are keen on snapping up some of their players don’t have enough money:

“They’ve already made an offer for Harry Kane, who wants to leave Tottenham. He’s been public about that. He would like to come to Manchester City but they’ve had that offer rejected by Tottenham. They need cash in an ideal world to do these deals (signings of Jack Grealish and Kane) and would like to get it in an ideal world from Barcelona or Atletico.”

“The problem is Barcelona and Atletico don’t really have cash to play with. Both clubs are trying to move players out and Barcelona, in particular, are offering a huge number of their players in these FFP swap deals.”

With Chelsea and Manchester United both said to be after Kane as well, the lack of funds will be a concern for City supporters.

A number of players are believed to be available for transfer, including Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte and Gabriel Jesus but it seems that, at this stage, nobody is willing to pay up and hand over sizeable sums to make these transfers happen.
