Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that centre-back Aymeric Laporte will miss at least a few more weeks of first-team action.

The 26-year-old was sidelined for the 1-0 win against Arsenal last weekend with an unspecified issue. Guardiola initially said that the Frenchman would be back within a week or ten days but it looks as though that estimate has been revised.

Kevin De Bruyne appears to be in a similar boat to Laporte in terms of when he’ll return to action. The 29-year-old picked up a muscular problem whilst on international duty earlier this month and he may only return after the next international break.

Guardiola was pretty vague in terms of both De Bruyne and Laporte’s return dates so there is a possibility that they could make their comeback earlier than expected if they can make quick recoveries.

There is far less optimism with regards to Gabriel Jesus, though. Guardiola confirmed that the Brazilian is a bit behind the likes of De Bruyne in terms of returning to fitness. The striker has not featured since the opening day win over Wolves due to a muscle injury.

It was initially believed that Jesus would return after the international break earlier this month but it looks like it could be late November before we now see him back on the pitch.

Benjamin Mendy was also missing versus Arsenal and Guardiola believes the French defender could miss the next month. There is, however, some good news on the injury front, with it being confirmed that another left-back, Oleksandr Zinchenko, is back fit and training with the first team. The Ukrainian international has not featured so far this season but should be in contention for the weekend’s game against West Ham, if not for tonight’s match versus Porto.
