Manchester City will have to pay €180m (£154m) if they want to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland this summer, according to reports in England.

It had previously been claimed that the Bundesliga side would demand €150m (£128m) but this new price tag has got many supporters on Twitter talking, with some even saying the Citizens shouldn’t pay it:

Whether Dortmund’s new asking price is designed to put off interested clubs, it isn’t known, but it will almost certainly reduce the number of Haaland’s potential suitors.

Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all highly unlikely to pay £154m, and it could come down to a straight shootout between the two Manchester clubs.

Even then, it could prove to be too pricey and there is a chance that clubs may wait until next summer when Haaland’s €75m (£64m) release clause becomes active. Dortmund are certainly playing hardball, much like they did with Jadon Sancho last year.
