Manchester City centre-back John Stones has been awarded the club’s player of the month award for December after some very strong defensive displays.
The 26-year-old had only made two league appearances before the start of last month, but he featured in six matches in December, with all the games ending in clean sheets.
Many felt Stones’ time at the club was all but over in the summer, with the player having been linked with the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and Chelsea, but fans on Twitter have given him massive credit for turning his career around at the Etihad:
Well deserved ?

Well done! Had his knockers but anyone who saw him in the last World Cup knows what he’s capable of. Onwards and upwards

His partnership with Ruben Dias has been formidable. They have only conceded one goal when they have played together, and that was only a consolation when Callum Hudson-Odoi scored in injury time during the 3-1 win over Chelsea at the start of this month.
The Stones-Dias combination has meant Aymeric Laporte has been forced to play second fiddle, and nobody would have predicted that at the start of the season.
