Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes that Manchester City, Liverpool or Manchester United will win the title if they finish above Chelsea this season.
After witnessing the Blues’ comfortable 3-0 win against Tottenham yesterday, Neville claimed that Thomas Tuchel’s men have set a benchmark which others must match in order to finish top of the table:
“If you are Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool or any other team that has aspirations to win this title. Then you will fancy your chances if you finish above this Chelsea team because they look really, really good – it’s a statement and performance in the second half (against Spurs).”
There is no doubt that Chelsea are one of City’s biggest threats, and we will get a gauge about where each team sits in the title race when the two clubs face each other at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
Pep Guardiola’s side have to negotiate a Carabao Cup game versus Wycombe Wanderers first but the Citizens are expected to field a lot of youngsters in that match, allowing the first team to be fresh for the trip to London.
After drawing against Southampton on Saturday, City head into the weekend three points behind Chelsea, and they will be hoping to claw back that gap when the two teams meet.
