Alan Shearer has named Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo in his Premier League ‘Team of the Week’ after his brace against Newcastle at the weekend.
The Portuguese international was, however, the only United player selected, with neither Bruno Fernandes nor Paul Pogba deemed worthy of inclusion by Shearer:

Three Chelsea players were included, in Edouard Mendy, Mato Kovacic and Romelu Lukaku, along with Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara.
Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Tyrick Mitchell and Wilfried Zaha were also recognised by Shearer after the Eagles recorded a surprise 3-0 win against Tottenham on Saturday.
Everton’s Andros Townsend, who scored a superb goal for the Toffees in the 3-1 win versus Burnley last night, and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva make up the rest of the eleven.
Ronaldo was fully deserving of his place in Shearer’s team, and he will be keen to replicate his performance against Newcastle in upcoming matches for United.
