Manchester City are set to make Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips one of their priority targets for the summer transfer window, according to reports in the UK.
United were heavily linked with the England international in April, while the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and West Ham have also been credited with an interest in the player.
The majority of United supporters on Twitter are happy for City to snap up Phillips, believing he doesn’t possess the quality needed to play for the Red Devils:
City can take him

Let him go there! We can’t add another Mc Tominay to our squad.

Even if United were competing with City for Phillips’ signature, it’s very unlikely that the midfielder would have chosen a move to Old Trafford anyway, due to his Leeds connections.
Having been brought up in the Yorkshire city, it would have been a huge wrench for him to make the switch to a fierce rival. With United currently focused on signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, they are unlikely to be too concerned if they miss out on Phillips.
