Manchester United Football Club are going to look very different come the opening day of next season.

Erik ten Hag has already let several players leave on free transfers, while others are likely to follow suit by being sold.

The Old Trafford club needs to undergo a major overhaul to start winning trophies again. Several signings are needed, with loads of names being linked.

Well, the latest information from TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook is good news for United supporters who are fans of Frenkie de Jong and Antony.

Those two players have been named as the ‘definite arrivals’ at United this summer, as the Ten Hag rebuild starts.

Both have been linked with a Red Devils switch pretty heavily this summer. De Jong probably moreso as his time at FC Barcelona seems to be winding down to a close through no fault of his own. In fact, the Dutchman wanted to stay at Camp Nou according to the man himself.

“I think at the moment him (Antony) and Frenkie De Jong look like two definite arrivals at Manchester United and are two players that Ten Hag clearly trusts and believes he can get the best out of.” Crook is quoted as saying.

There’s no doubt that the midfielder will absolutely offer us something different in a key area of the field. We’ve struggled to keep possession at times, while having someone whose job, first and foremost, is to retain the ball would absolutely improve us.

I still have doubts about whether De Jong actually wants to be here which leaves me a little worried. However, the fact that he’s worked with Ten Hag before does offer a glimmer of hope.

Antony is a relative unknown. The Brazilian had an excellent season at Ajax under Ten Hag in 2021/22, though aged 22, he’s still so young. I liken him to Memphis Depay when he made the move to United. There’s still an awful lot to learn and this transfer would have to be considered a roll of the dice.

Either way, this feels like Ten Hag is trying to surround himself with familiarity as he looks to make a great start to life in Manchester.
