With eight players expected to be missing for the season opener against Leeds, preparations in the buildup to the new campaign have been far from ideal for Manchester United.

Even so, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has a strong group of players to choose from ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s game at Old Trafford

David De Gea will start in goal, with Dean Henderson still recovering from the effects of the virus. Raphael Varane won’t be available so Victor Lindelof will line up alongside Harry Maguire in the centre of defence. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are expected to be selected in the fullback positions.

Fred’s participation in the Copa America, and his late return, means he is unlikely to be match sharp. Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay are, therefore, the favourites to start behind Bruno Fernandes.

That would allow Paul Pogba to play off the left wing, where he had some joy last season, with Mason Greenwood starting on the other flank in place of Jadon Sancho, who has only had a week of training.

Anthony Martial is likely to get the nod up front as Edinson Cavani is not expected to be fit after being given permission to have extended leave over the summer.

Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Play Leeds:

De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Fernandes, McTominay, Greenwood, Martial, Pogba
