Manchester United have opened discussions with RB Leipzig about signing Amadou Haidara, according to journalist Jonathan Shrager.
The freelance reporter, who has a patchy record when it comes to reliability, claims that the Red Devils have pushed ahead in their attempts to snap up the midfielder:
Whilst talks are in preliminary stages, I am told that there is now an open dialogue between #MUFC and RB Leipzig regarding Amadou Haidara

It was reported over the weekend that interim boss Ralf Rangnick already had a verbal agreement with Leipzig over paying £33m for Haidara, but that United had been reluctant to back the German in the transfer market.
Rangnick is only at the club until the end of the season and there were concerns about giving him a say in the club’s plans during the January window.
If Shrager’s information does turn out to be accurate, it appears the board may have ceded to Rangnick’s wishes. Haidara is currently away at the African Cup of Nations with Mali so, even if he does sign, fans won’t see him in action at Old Trafford until next month.
