Ex-West Ham and Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is expecting Manchester United to finish behind Manchester City in the league this campaign.

The former England international says he would like the Red Devils to finish at the top but he believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side will just fall short in their bid to overhaul their city rivals:

“Manchester City will win it. I would prefer Man United to win it but I think they come second. Chelsea third, Liverpool fourth, Arsenal fifth and Leicester sixth.”

Wilshere seems to be very positive about United’s chances in the league, and there are certainly many reasons to be optimistic following the club’s transfer business this summer.

Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho were not even in the squad as United sealed a comfortable 4-0 win over Everton in a friendly yesterday, but their presence in the team will only strengthen their claims that they can challenge for the title.

Of course, a lot can change over the course of the season, but United do look better placed than they have done in previous years; getting their signings in early ahead of the opening league fixture.
