Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher expects Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans to leave the King Power Stadium at the end of the season.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has spoken out to deny that the 24-year-old has rejected a new contract but Carragher believes that the player will look to move on from the Midlands club in search of a new challenge:
“I think he’ll see himself as a Champions League player. He’s playing for Belgium, one of the best teams in the world. I expect him to leave in the summer.”
Reports in the Belgian media have claimed that Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Juventus are Tielemans’ four main suitors. He will have just one year left on his current deal in June and Leicester will have to make a decision on whether to sell him.
It is believed that the Foxes may try and hold out for a fee in the region of €55m (£46m) but, due to the risk of him leaving for nothing in 2023, they may have to settle for as little as €40m (£34m). Considering United’s problems in midfield, signing such a quality player for that sum would be a fantastic piece of business.
