Manchester United legend Roy Keane has made Manchester City firm favourites to retain their Premier League title.
Back in August, the Irishman was split on whether the Citizens or Chelsea would finish top, having pretty much dismissed Liverpool and Manchester United’s chances.
However, after seeing City secure a 2-2 draw at Anfield yesterday, Keane says it would take a huge effort from any other team to finish above Pep Guardiola’s side this season:
“I still think all of these teams, Chelsea included, will do well to finish ahead of Man City.”
Keane doesn’t directly address United’s start to the campaign but, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were held by Everton at home on Saturday, he is unlikely to have seen much that would convince him they are genuine title contenders.
Things may change after the international break, though. The Red Devils face a really tough run of fixtures in the Premier League with Leicester, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City all coming up in the next month. We will know more about where United stand after those matches.
