Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Donny van de Beek may get a rare start against Young Boys tomorrow evening.
The Dutchman got his first minutes of the season after coming on as a substitute in the 4-1 victory over Newcastle on Saturday and Solskjaer promises the player will be afforded more game time:
“Donny is part of the squad, same as everyone else. He is fighting to get minutes. First taste of minutes with a crowd today. This is Man United, Donny. This is what it feels like. He keeps working hard. He is such a professional. Top lad as well. He will get his minutes. Tuesday? Let’s see what happens.”
While Solskjaer’s remarks don’t expressly state that van de Beek will be handed a starting berth, the fact that he mentioned the Young Boys game has led some supporters on Twitter to conclude that the 24-year-old will be in the eleven:
so he’s starting basically

It will be interesting to see whether van de Beek does start in Switzerland tomorrow. The Netherlands international hasn’t really got much of a look-in since he arrived from Ajax for £35m in the summer of 2020.
Competition for places is the main reason for that, though, with both Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes taking up the two positions on the pitch where van de Beek would be best suited.
