Manchester United and Chelsea have both “approached” Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo about a potential move to the Premier League, according to Marca.
The Spanish publication reports that the two Premier League clubs are still “waiting” for a decision from the Uruguayan international but they will be encouraged by the news that the player’s agent has turned down a contract extension from Barca.
Araujo’s representative is believed to have “rejected” the first offer that the La Liga club tabled at a meeting last week. At this stage, talks have not broken down but an agreement is not thought to be close.
With that in mind, the likes of United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on the situation in the event that the 22-year-old does decide he is better off leaving the Camp Nou.
Araujo will have just one year remaining on his current deal at the end of the season so Barcelona may have to offload the player if a new contract can’t be agreed before then.
