Manchester United remain firmly in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland, according to reports in the German media.

It is believed that the Red Devils are willing to trigger the Norwegian’s €75m (£63m) release clause but the player has not yet decided on whether he will leave Dortmund next summer.

The Bundesliga side have lined up a new contract, worth €16m a year, and a meeting will take place between the club and Haaland’s entourage next month to discuss Haaland’s future.

United are, of course, not the only interested party, with Manchester City and Real Madrid preparing to pay the 21-year-old’s buyout fee. Chelsea and Liverpool have also been mentioned as potential suitors in recent days.

It has been suggested that Ralf Rangnick’s close connections to Haaland could help United snap up the striker, with the Red Devils boss having previously worked on his transfer to Red Bull Salzburg in 2019.
