RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer has a €40m (£34m) release clause in his contract, according to reports in the German media.
It is believed that Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has recommended the Austrian as a possible summer signing, with the Red Devils looking to reinforce their options in midfield.
However, multiple sources have claimed that Bayern Munich are pressing hard for Laimer’s signature, while the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa are said to have scouted the player recently.
Even though Leipzig are reportedly keen on keeping hold of Laimer, his release clause means the Bundesliga side don’t really have a strong negotiating position, particularly as he has also shown no signs of putting pen to paper on a new deal.
In fact, it is very likely that Laimer will be let go for a fee well below £34m. One report has indicated that Bayern are trying to agree a deal for around €20m (£17m) so United may have to move fast if they are to head off interest from the German side.
