Barcelona will look to offer Ousmane Dembele as part of a swap deal for Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, according to reports in the Catalan media.
The La Liga club are looking to offload Dembele this month, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. The Frenchman is said to be demanding a huge salary (€43m a year which is nearly £700,000 a week) and Barca’s finances mean they cannot offer anything close to that figure. With the Catalan side also keen to free up the wage bill in order to register new signing Ferran Torres; something has got to give.
A solution, therefore, is being sought, with United being offered the chance of signing Dembele, in exchange for Martial moving in the other direction on loan.
Dembele is long-term target for the club, with the likes of Juventus, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool having also been linked in recent months. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils would consider the deal worthwhile, considering they wouldn’t be getting much for loaning out Martial.
