Manchester United are “preparing” a bid for Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde, according to the Daily Mail.
Despite the Red Devils closing in on a move for Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane, it appears that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are keen on signing a second centre-half this summer.
Kounde has been the subject of interest from the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Madrid recently, while Arsenal were also linked with the Frenchman earlier this year before they made a move for Ben White.
However, United are now the likeliest to make a formal offer for the 22-year-old, although Sevilla are thought to be reluctant to let him leave.
The La Liga side were previously open to selling Kounde to raise funds for their own transfer business, but the sale of Bryan Gil to Spurs means they are not desperate to offload more players.
With Kounde’s release clause reportedly set at €80m (£68.4m), United would probably have to put a significant sum on the table to persuade Sevilla to part ways with the defender.
