Manchester United are one of the teams interested in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha before the transfer window closes, according to reports in Portugal.
Tottenham, Wolves, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also keen on the Portuguese international, who could be sold for just €30m (£25m) this month.
United are actively looking at ways to strengthen their options in the middle of the park and Palhinha seems to be one of the solutions being considered by the club.
The 26-year-old is a holding midfielder by trade and has been a key figure for Ruben Amorim’s side over the last two seasons, helping them win the league and the Portuguese League Cup.
Whether Palhinha is top of United’s list of targets, it isn’t known. The Red Devils have also been linked with RB Leipzig’s Amadou Haidara, Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria in recent weeks.
With the window slamming shut on Monday, Ralf Rangnick’s side don’t have a great deal of time left to bring in any new additions to the squad.
