Manchester United are keeping tabs on Anderlecht left-back Sergio Gomez, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Spanish Under 21 international, who came through Barcelona’s academy, has been in impressive form in the Belgian Pro League this season.
Gomez was linked with Chelsea back in January, and it appears other teams are also taking notice of Gomez’s performances, with the Red Devils and Inter Milan thought to be tracking his progress.
The 21-year-old only joined Anderlecht from Borussia Dortmund in July last year, but he has been racking up the assists, with 14 in all competitions so far.
On the face of it, United don’t need another left-back, with Luke Shaw and Alex Telles both in the first team squad, so it remains to be seen whether the Manchester club’s interest turns into something more concrete this summer.
A lot will, of course, be dependent on who the club’s next manager is. Ajax’s Erik ten Hag is currently the favourite but reports suggest he does have two other teams pursuing him. With a decision on Ralf Rangnick’s successor not likely to come soon, any thoughts of summer signings like Gomez will also go on the backburner.
