Ralf Rangnick’s strong relationship with Antonio Rudiger‘s agent could help Manchester United sign the German international on a free transfer, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Sahr Senesie, who is Rudiger’s half brother, is the one handling the Chelsea defender’s affairs and it is believed that Rangnick knows Senesie after coming across him when he was still a player.
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are the three other teams said to be in the frame for Rudiger, but Rangnick may be able to persuade the centre-back into moving to Old Trafford instead.
There are also other factors to consider. Chelsea have held fresh talks with the 28-year-old and there is still hope that the German will opt to remain at the Blues. However, he is asking for a total package of €55m (£46m) including salary and bonuses so it seems unlikely that an agreement will be reached.
Rudiger is also hoping that Real Madrid will reignite their interest in him, although the La Liga club have not been in touch since holding initial discussions last month. It means United are in a good position to take advantage.
