Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani will miss the club’s opening league fixture against Leeds United this weekend, according to reports in England.
The Uruguayan was given permission by the club to have an extended break back in his home country, and he won’t be available for the start of the new season.
Supporters on Twitter are disappointed that Cavani won’t be involved on Saturday, and some are hoping that Anthony Martial can step up to the plate in his teammate’s absence:

It appears that one of the conditions for Cavani signing a contract extension was for him to have a longer holiday to visit family and friends; some of which he hasn’t seen in a number of years.
On one hand, it is frustrating to see that United’s early-season plans will be hampered by another absentee, following the news that Marcus Rashford will be out for a number of months due to shoulder surgery. However, it is entirely understandable why Cavani was given more time off.
