Manchester United are considering RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku as a potential summer transfer target, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenburg.
The journalist claims that Ralf Rangnick has recommended the Frenchman as a possible signing, although any move appears to be dependent on the Red Devils offloading some forwards first:
News #Nkunku: He’s on #MUFC ‘s list for summer! Rangnick is a big fan of him. Internally there were talks about the player. Club is considering the option of bringing him to Manchester United. But there are still too many other options in the squad. #TransferUpdate @Sky_Marc🟨🇫🇷

Nkunku has been in stunning form for Leipzig this season, scoring 28 goals and providing 18 assists, so it is not surprising that fans on Twitter would like to see him at Old Trafford:
Would be a cracking signing tbh. A highly competitive multi functional player who can play anywhere across the front 3 aswell as a CAM. Think he’ll be used as a false 9 if we sign him. He plays there frequently for Leipzig

Rather spend 60/70 on Nkunku than Nunez

Should be our #1 target after 2 midfielders

He’s been on fire this season, as a progressive 8 or 10 he would be unbelievable and he can fill in Striker sometimes

If we were ambitious, we would sign him along with Nunez. No excuses.

It’s likely that players such as Antony Martial would have to leave before Nkunku could be brought in. The United striker is currently on loan at Sevilla but the Spanish side are not keen on keeping him.
More room will also be freed up when the likes of Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard leave at the end of their contracts in June. Neither are expected to extend their stay at United so Nkunku could well be considered as an option to reinforce the ranks.
The 24-year-old does have plenty of other suitors, though, with both Arsenal and Manchester City having also been linked in recent weeks. Leipzig are expected to hold out for around €75m (£63m) so he won’t be cheap either.
