Rangers centre-back George Edmundson was one of the standout performers as the Light Blues managed to keep a clean sheet against Lyon despite playing most of the game with ten men.
Ryan Kent was sent off just before half time after lashing out at Marcelo but Edmundson helped marshall the defence as the Gers secured a confidence-boosting 2-0 win. Fans on Twitter praised the Englishman’s display:
Edmundson was absolutely a rock at the back tonight made dembele look silly ??

With Nikola Katic out until the New Year with a serious knee injury, Edmundson could well find himself playing on a regular basis alongside Connor Goldson at the start of the new season.
Filip Helander did not feature against Lyon due to a minor injury problem but he could well be back in the squad for the next friendly against Nice on Saturday.
The Swedish international will know he has a battle on his hands for a first-team place after Edmundson’s impressive performance last night.
