Rangers are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder James Garner on loan this summer, according to the player’s agent Steven Beck.

The 20-year-old is currently with Nottingham Forest but Beck says the player could well go out on a temporary basis next season as well, with three clubs said to be in the frame to snap him up.

“James has put himself in a great position where he’s probably going to have, if he does go out on loan again, the majority of the Championship and I would be amazed if one or two Premier League clubs don’t try and do something. I know Brighton like him, I know Norwich like him. I know Rangers are really keen on him as well.”

It appears that Rangers’ interest in Garner goes back to January when his spell with Watford was cut shot. The Scottish club offered to take on the player for the rest of the season, but he opted to move to Forest, having also turned down Blackburn Rovers and a number of other teams.

This season, Garner has played 34 games in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He generally plays as an anchor man and it may be the case that Gers boss Steven Gerrard is eyeing potential alternatives to Ryan Jack, who has suffered a number of injury problems this campaign.
